Reblogged from Richard Reed's Blog:
Questions that are constantly asked in the skeptic/atheist communities include "Who should get to talk at conferences?" or in other words, "Who should we listen to?". In trying to answer these questions, it is very easy to look for labels to slap on to people in order to enhance their reputations. In this post, I'm going to argue that many of these labels can be pretty much worthless, and should not be used as a basis for people to have influence.
In this reporter's opinion, "blogger" should be viewed as much of a profession as "juggler" or "gum-chewer" are.
